Genesis Project, Los Angeles is a collaborative artist’s residency catering to artists whose practice exists between disciplines and works with and through the body. The project is modeled after Genesis, Dublin, Ireland, which began in 2004 when dance artists Julie Lockett and Ella Clarke, in conversation with seminal post-modern choreographer Deborah Hay, asked the question ‘as an artist, what do I need?’ Genesis Project, Los Angeles provides a space for individualized artistic inquiry, in addition to horizontal exchange of knowledge and cross-disciplinary collaboration, as defined by the resident artists.

Our next artists residency will take place in Los Angeles in August 2010. But fear not, Genesis will be buzzing with public events (performances, talks, workshops, parties) that aim to generate physical and intellectual dialogue around inter-disciplinary, body-based arts practice. Check here for updates on upcoming events.
